Fitzgerald
Elder
 Vance is originally from Camilla, Georgia but has lived in Newport News since 1966. He is happily married to Angela, his wife of 14 years. Vance spent 2 years in the Navy, 18 years in the Army and 20 years as a school teacher. He enjoys his retirement by fishing, gardening, yard work, building things, working outside, woodworking and watching Georgia Bulldogs play football. Vance is a hospitable man and a wonderful counselor. He has a love for the Lord and wants to serve God and the church by protecting the flock against unsound doctrine. He prepares and coordinates communion, is a member of the counting committee, and oversees the mission committee. He sets an example that you are never to old to serve God. His vision of the church is one where people are being more holy and dedicated to learning about God so they can spread the good news of the Gospel. The best way to get to know Vance is to go fishing, go out to eat, or just drop by his house and, if you are a Georgia Bulldog fan, watch a game together.
